SPAR is a unique speech event because it directly involves an opponent in a debate-like setup. But unlike debate, SPAR also uses hooks.
It can be tricky to come up with a hook and an entire case all in two minutes. So how do you think of killer intros at lightning speed?
In general, the best hooks relate directly to the topic at hand. For example, if the resolution is about math vs. English, the hook could be something like, "You can count on me like 1, 2, 3..." from the Bruno Mars song.
It helps to play a quick game of word-association in your head. Sometimes, song lyrics or idioms related to the topic will come to you!
Remember that whatever your hook is, keep it brief (under 10 seconds)!
